Meng Qi is a pioneering synthesizer designer and musician. His work revolves around the duality of instruments: control/chaos, harmony/noise, quantization/continuity, and more. He embodies these concepts in highly gestural interfaces. Meng Qi is the designer of the Wing and Wingie. Currently, he is collaborating with Australian synthesizer designer Gill Trent on his third standalone instrument, “Horizon,” expected to launch in early 2025. Together with Li Anqi, he also runs the media platform “Synthesizer Minority,” sharing knowledge and exciting synthesizer facts with a broader audience. In addition, Meng Qi has been active in teaching and giving lectures at various events both in China and internationally.
HOŁUBOWSKA w/ MUCIÑO: LOVERS / LICHENS explores symbiosis as a primary evolutionary mechanism—through collaboration, love, and mutual aid. The somatic score developed byHołubowska functions like an oracle card, allowing different configurations and braidings. In live performance, Muciño (bassoon), Hołubowska (voice and electronics), and AI RAVE models form a symbiotic system, interpreting the score and blending sounds like a lichen. Bassoon, voice, and archival singing weave a porous lace on the verge of interspecies intimacy.
