Presentation of Cobbled Paths: a web interface that brings multiple tools together to allow experimental and direct collaboration on pen-plotted drawings through the making of Ascii art on etherpads. We will go through how the tool was built, and talk about its different uses in commissioned collaborations for exhibition identity and as an intimate drawing tool.
Open Source Publishing
OSP is a graphic design collective based in Brussels. We work on typography, websites, web-to print tools and plotters. We exclusively use free and open source software (F/LOSS). Through our projects we question software as cultural objects and modes of collaboration between graphic designers, artists, cultural institutions and schools. We question the influence and affordances of digital tools through the practice of (commissioned) graphic design, teaching and applied research.

Project Description
The printer is the most pervasive (and frustrating) example of technology that doesn’t work in our everyday lives. Everyone knows the situation where a printer doesn’t do what was originally intended with the print job.
Designers, listen! In this performance, joak will take a different path. joak will show several modified printing devices and how they can be used as a performative device. With this approach, printers are not understood as isolated technologies but as an instrument. Because after all, printing should be fun.
This performance is part of joak’s longer research on why printers never work.
joak
joak(AT) is an artist working with obsolete media/technologies/trash and anachronistic, fictitious timelines. Humor and irony are an important method in his undertakings. He is currently working on various alogisms and algorithms in Linz(AT).

An audiovisual performance, using live score instruments of light and sound. Being reactive, the various elements interweave in a non-hierarchical structure of live feedback. It is meant to be perceived as a whole, that combines senses and emotions. For this project the performers combine visual and sound research with open source tools.

mordillo comes from an impulse, a snatch, a search and conviction to bite hard. Chewing what comes across, we are ready to process information, retrieve, take the time to dissect, deal with complexity. We don’t take NO! for an answer.
In the quest for a common ground, the visual artists Martina Moro and Gabriela Gordillo make a media research that combines their backgrounds into a performative setting and a multi-layered ping pong game.
Audiovisual code, waves and patterns, feed the process. From project to project, mordillo can change its face and tempo, but not its essence.
