Behind Sun People is Simon Hafner from Graz, who has been active as a DJ and producer for more than two decades. He has been merging Footwork, Jungle, and Techno influences into a unique and distinctive sound that led to releases on renowned labels like Exit, Rua Sound or Defrostatica. In addition to remix jobs, gigs, and his own productions, Simon also pursues his musically versatile vision in a four-weekly radio show on London’s Sub.FM.

To further expand his musical sphere he recently started a label called All Things Records, where his first album ‚Look Withini‘ s released on Oct. 17. In over 10 tracks, Sun People follows previous explorations into footwork and techno influenced realms at 160bpm.

Stepping into territories without structural or functional limitations leads Sun People towards raw, experimental, analogue jams, while remaining in the realm of club music. This form suggests a deeper exploration of dance music that wants to create and allow a meditative zone on the floor, evoking not only physical but also mental reactions and affects.

Die gebürtige Oberösterreicherin ist seit zwanzig Jahren als Vinyl DJ und Veranstalterin in der österreichischen Subkultur aktiv. Die ersten Jahre war sie vorwiegend in der Drum and Bass Szene mit dem DJ Kollektiv Zanglasound für eine langjährige Eventreihe maßgeblich verantwortlich, internationale Künstler:innen wie Lenzman, Riya oder Kabuki gastierten damals im Zuge dessen im Salzkammergut. Daneben war in einem hiesigen Kulturverein das Engagement gewachsen, sich im Raum Vöcklabruck für ein Offenes Kunst,- und Kulturhaus einzusetzen welches seit 2012 als kultureller Nahversorger in der Region nicht mehr wegzudenken ist.

Etwa zu dieser Zeit erweiterte sie ihre Plattensammlung um das Musikgenre House und fühlt sich nach wie vor der Wiener Crew Commandyoursoul ebenso verbunden, wie der vom Doppelgestirn Detroit/Chicago inspirierten Musik an sich. Nach einigen Jahren in Linz zog es MJANE schließlich nach Wien, wo sie sich mit dem Kollegium von UPD8E weiter der UK Bassmusic, konkreter dem Jungle verschrieben hat.
